Overview

Issue 3.5, by Tucker Nichols, was a surprise issue. The issue consists of four beer mats, each with text from businesses Tucker encountered on a trip to Northern California (with the exception of “Denise“).
Tucker’s issue, which was a bonus surprise issue, consisted of four different beermats (also know as coasters). All of the copy on the mats is from real businesses Tucker encountered on a recent trip to Eureka, California. (Except for “Denise.” He made that one up.)

Tucker Nichols has had recent solo shows at ZieherSmith Gallery in New York, Lincart and Gallery 16 in San Francisco, and the Kunstpanorama in Luzern. His work has been featured at the Drawing Center and John Connelly Presents in New York, Rocket Gallery in Tokyo, and a recent show curated by Dave Eggers at Apex Gallery in New York. His drawings have been published in McSweeney’s, J&L Books, Zoetrope: All Story, Nieves Books and The New York Times. Nichols’ most recent book, Postcards From Vermont, was published by the Expanding Color System. He is currently artist-in-residence at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

Nichols has a BA from Brown University and an MA from Yale University, both in the History of Chinese Painting. He lives near San Francisco.

He is represented by ZieherSmith.
